NoBultoRd.Com: Alfredo Rodriguez - The Invasion Parade (2014) CD COMPLETO Alfredo Rodriguez - The Invasion Parade (2014) CD COMPLETO ================================================================================ djcola2 on 13/03/2014 11:39:00 Alfredo Rodriguez - The Invasion Parade (2014) CD COMPLETO ALFREDO RODRIGUEZ - THE INVASION PARADE (2014) CD COMPLETO A prominent jazz pianist in Cuba, Rodriguez was born in Havana to a popular singer and television personality of the same name. The young Alfredo began classical piano studies at age 10, and as a teen appeared on his father’s show with many of Cuba’s greatest musicians, and simultaneously played in street bands while studying at the prestigious Instituto Superior de Arte. Rodriguez’ father, an Afro-Cuban singer, enrolled his son in a top Havana music school at age 7. By the time he was 14 years old, the young Alfredo was the pride of the conservatory, graduating with better grades than the school had ever seen. Rodriguez was already a local phenomenon when he sent a rough recording to Switzerland’s Montreux Jazz Festival. What he considered a fanciful shot in the dark got him a spot at the eminent festival, where he caught the ear of legendary jazz musician and producer Quincy Jones. One of twelve Cuban musicians permitted to perform one song each, Rodriguez wowed the legendary producer, who invited him to America. He sought amnesty. A lot of other Cubans have done the same. According to the Florida Sun Sentinel, at least 44,000 Cubans arrived in the United States in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30 (FY13)—the highest total since 1994 and 10 percent higher than the estimated 40,000 arrivals in FY12. The U.S. diplomatic mission in Havana issued 24,727 immigrant visas in FY13 (following a decade’s old promise from Washington to issue at least 20,000 migrant visas to Cubans per year after the 1994 “Rafter Crisis,” which saw 35,000 migrants take to homemade boats) to discourage such risky voyages. Rodriguez made his American debut at the Playboy Jazz Festival opening for Wayne Shorter, and his career has been on a rocket ride ever since. Equally informed by Keith Jarrett and Bach, Rodriguez has the melodic intuition of Brad Mehldau and the fiery fury of someone under 30. His performance at Barnes Hall will be the last before he releases an all-new album titled The Invasion Parade on March 4, which features guest artists Esperanza Spalding, Pedrito Martínez, and Henry Cole. Rodriguez will preview a few songs from his new album in this not-to-be-missed show.
